Why do I need a nutritionist?

What is a nutritionist?

A nutritionist is a person who predominantly advises you on how food and lifestyle can impact your health.

Why do I need to see a nutritionist?

It is very easy these days to simply use the internet to research a health concern and follow the advice. The media too helps to provide information regarding healthy eating, different kinds of diets and also promotes the use of vitamins, good fats, superfoods, probiotics, freeze dried vegetables and so forth; but how does one know what is the right thing to take?  For example we can read or research the benefits of coconut oil and fish oils but how do you know if this is something that is going to benefit you? What if your body cannot digest fats?

How do I know which vitamin or which brand is suited to my needs?

What is the right dosage for me, so that I can benefit from this vitamin?

What if my body cannot absorb the nutrient?

An article you may read in a magazine may advocate the benefits of grapefruit but may not necessarily provide the information of the interaction that this nutrient can have with drugs that you may already be taking.

This is where a nutritionist comes in.

A nutritionist will take a detailed history pertaining to your health and come up with a tailor made package to suit your needs.

A private consultation involves communication and feedback, and every care is given to ensure that you achieve optimum health.

My ethos is searching for the root cause of a condition.  For example, if you came to me with allergy symptoms, I would dig deep and find out the underlying cause of this reaction. I would not simply give you the natural equivalent of an anti-histamine but would treat the body as a whole and look for other underlying causes for the reaction.

I believe in helping my clients to achieve their goals that are realistic to their own lifestyle and endeavour to support them in their journey to health.

Many health conditions like acne, eczema, arthritis, diabetes, depression, constipation, stress and tiredness can be improved with even minor changes to your diet and lifestyle.
